Forums:

This system is currently not set up to build kernel modules.
Please install the gcc make perl packages from your distribution.
VirtualBox Guest Additions: Running kernel modules will not be replaced until
the system is restarted

Возможно лечение установкой/переустановкой модулей:

sudo apt install virtualbox-guest-utils virtualbox-guest-dkms

При выполнении команды можем получить:

$ sudo apt install virtualbox-guest-utils virtualbox-guest-dkms
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

по совету из текста ошибки команды выполняем:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

И далее если будет проблема:

You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
.......
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

То опять же по совету выполнить:

sudo apt --fix-broken install
